For the last two years, North East songwriter and producer Joshua Taylor (Brother Castor) called New York home working at the famed Avatar Studios assisting on sessions for some of his songwriting heroes including Paul Simon and Mick Jagger.
With the studio closing for long term renovations in 2019, Taylor’s visa was turned down, and he was sent packing. He took the opportunity to move back to Northumberland, pick up the guitar and follow in the footsteps of his heroes.
Castor’s debut song “Let Go” caused an immediate stir with the unusual “drumming on the guitar” style bringing over half a million views.
His latest release “Turn The Car Over” is a warming indie-folk track focusing on the day to day challenges of battling climate change in normal life and the helplessness it can sometimes bring.
The track has already been played by BBC Introducing and is one to add to your indie-folk, craft beer by a fire playlists.
Americana infused, Northumbrian at heart and infectiously quirky Brother Castor is one to watch in 2021.
