My interest in music started at a young age, thanks to my father. He used to be in a rock band that I was amazed by as a kid, so I gave it a try, and I liked it a lot. Our house had a spacious rehearsal studio which made it easier for me to be around music. Having that space available gave me the advantage to organize plenty of events/parties there, and invite musicians and friends to play gigs every week. I gained experience as a singer and performer.

I was raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco. I started guitar lessons at a young age and moved on to drums and vocals. I formed part of three different music project through middle school, high school and college, expanding my taste on music genres. I was 18 when I wrote my first album called “Overthinking”, inspired by a girl that was important for me but made me go through tough times. We promoted it and performed around the city, in venues and theatres. A few festivals and appearances in TV (Televisa) gave us a local recognition.

During college, I met a manager/promoter, which got us into the music industry pretty quick. As a result, I was about to accomplish something very important in my music career, which was opening for one my favourite and biggest indie bands from México called “Porter” but before that, life changed in a blink of an eye. Due to a family emergency, my brother and I needed to move to San Diego urgently to help on the situation and support in any way possible. The band dissolved.

Completely unknown to a sudden change of life, I decided to keep pursuing what I found meaning the most; Music and family. Having the opportunity to study communication and digital media eased my way to start building up my indie project “Roi Bars”. In the beginning, it was a bit difficult to adapt to a new environment, to support my self economically and start making new relationships due to the circumstances. Still, later on, things began to fall into place. My family situation got better; the isolation that I was in allowed me to keep learning and preparing my self musically for what was up next.

I learned how to produce my music professionally, and later on, I met great artists which I’ve worked with and had amazing shows together. During that time, I wrote and produced my albums “Feel”, “My Overture!” and many singles afterwards.

I take inspiration from my basic aural skill to produce captivating progressions and original melodies. My current sound reflects different aspects of indie, bedroom, and electronic-influenced pop, making my music a unique mix between sub-genres. With the support of my online presence, I continue to grow in my work within the music industry.

My Latest single release is titled “Loner Wolf”. You can stream it here:
