Mood-Boosting The Power Of Pets

We are animal lovers here at Positive Lifestyle, with dogs being our favourites. Dogs can reduce stress, anxiety, ease loneliness, and get you out in the fresh air doing some exercise.

Playing with dogs or any animals can elevate serotonin levels, which is the feel-good factor and make you feel calm and relaxed. Pets fulfil the basic human need for touch. Everyone loves affection, and it’s true with dogs. They give you unconditional love. Caring for your dog can take the focus away from your problems, especially if you live alone.

From experience, my dogs and I have been through thick and thin together, and I couldn’t imagine them not being around. Recently, one of our dogs has been diagnosed blind, but it’s due to old age and is just one that happens in life.

We were advised to put a collar on him with a bell attached. That way, we could hear him, and now it’s a matter of guiding him. Still, his female companion has taken over to help him, and we got her a bell so he could follow the noise and feel more secure around the house.

Now it sounds like Christmas every day with elves running around driving me little nuts, but if it stops him bumping into things, then the bells will be staying! If you can’t own a dog, so many shelters out there welcome a volunteer.

You will be helping yourself and helping to socialize and exercise the animals, making them more adoptable. Some animal shelters and rescue groups offer pet “rental” programs.

Dogs that are available for adoption can be rented out for walks. Dogs depend on our good faith; their hearts are in our care. There is nothing better than when you come through the front door, and they are happy to see you wagging their tails even if you have only been gone a short while. Below is a few reasons for the benefits of getting a furry friend.

They keep us moving

They ease social isolation

They can act as fury therapists

It gets you chatting to people on dog walks

Reduces stress

They are always loyal

They make excellent watchdogs

Having a dog improves your physical wellbeing and encourages fitness

Dogs increase your mood dramatically

There is never a dull moment in my house when socks go missing, one of them is running off with something to hide the item behind a curtain, or when I have tripped over a trail of dog toys, they have left all over. The house!

They all have funny traits, but that feeling in the morning when you just about opened one eye and you have a furry friend excited to see you is just the best feeling in the world. Pets are loyal, non-judgemental, and are full of unconditional love. (give me animals over humans any day) Who could ask for anything more?

Did you know dogs can sniff out medical conditions, so if you notice your dog acting funny with no explanation, you may want to book an appointment with your doctor? Animals with a heightened sense of smell can detect small changes in the human body. Dogs are fantastic at many things, and for decades doctors have observed that dogs can discover all these different diseases only by just sniffing; our furry friends need to be cherished and looked after like they are one of the family.
